Type IIb (2B) diamonds are an extremely rare niche of diamonds that are predominantly carbon with traces of the element Boron in their lattice structure. Boron, which can have superconductive properties, also gives blue diamonds their color and helps researchers learn more about the geological history of the Earth at great depths. Additionally, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) claims that less than 0.1% of the world's gem-quality diamonds are Type IIb making them one of the rarest diamond types. Furthermore, our collection of diamonds is absent from various kinds of inclusions and properties that can affect a stone’s durability and appearance. These include feathers, knots, cavities, chips, clouds, bruises, internal or external graining, indented naturals, needles, polishing marks, overtone color, and fluorescence. Famous examples of Type IIb diamonds are the Hope Diamond at 45.52 carats, and the Idol's Eye Diamond at 70.21 carats.
